Just so we are clear, I am not finished with my OPPOSITION TO senate bill 22; I will notify you of additional opposition in my email tomorrow.

Subject: OPPOSE

Dear Scott Walker,
I am writing you today to OPPOSE senate bill 22. I find it frightening that charter schools will be overseen by a nine-person advisory board appointed by you, the senate majority leader, and the speaker of the assembly. I do recognize that each appointer will appoint no more than two people belonging to the same political party, though.
SECTION 2.  15.56 of the statutes is created to read:
15.56  Charter school authorizing board.  (1)  There is created a charter
school authorizing board consisting of the following members appointed for 3−year
terms:
(a)  Three members appointed by the governor, no more than 2 of whom may
belong to the same political party.
(b)  Three members appointed by the senate majority leader, no more than 2 of
whom may belong to the same political party.
(c)  Three members appointed by the speaker of the assembly, no more than 2
of whom may belong to the same political party.
I am also concerned about the wording of "extent feasible" when the appointers are seeking to appoint members with experience and expertise from diverse geographical locations.
(2)  The appointing authorities under sub. (1) shall ensure to the extent feasible
that members appointed to the board are geographically diverse and have experience
and expertise in governing public and nonprofit organizations; in management and
finance; in public school leadership, assessment, and curriculum and instruction;
and in education law; and understand and are committed to the use of charter schools
to strengthen public education.

How is this going to improve education?

I am in OPPOSITION TO senate bill 22 and the destruction it will have on education.
Sincerely,
Carrie K
It's never too late to begin your happily ever after :)

P.S. Just so we are clear, I am not finished with my OPPOSITION TO senate bill 22; I will notify you of additional opposition in my email tomorrow.
